NATHAN AND WOLFENSTEIN
Wolfenstein is one of my favorite game series! So I hope everyone who has read my latest blog post has enjoyed it, if you have not here is the quick brief on the piece. Inspired by looking at the rise of fascism in America today, I tried to show that maybe we don’t have to give up on making things better. It’ll take blood sweat and tears to make the world a better place, but it can be done. I hope my piece showed that, please read it if you have not had a chance!
LIAM AND THE POWER OF CONTROL
Video games have revolutionized storytelling by giving players control over the narrative. Unlike traditional media, games allow players to shape the outcome by making decisions and guiding characters through unique challenges. This immersive experience often creates an emotional bond that goes deeper than usual film and literature. From character choices to dynamic environments, the ability to influence the plot makes video games a powerful storytelling medium. Does control of the story make for a better experience? Read more to find out for yourself!
MOLE CRICKET AND LISA THE PAINFUL
What does it mean to make meaningful choices? In video games, of course — let’s not get too philosophical. The average Joe would probably say it means multiple branched endings. But what if I were to tell you that choices go far beyond narrative conclusions? In fact, what if I were to tell you that you can have a game with meaningful choices despite having a pre-determined ending?
LISA the Painful manages to do just that. How so? Well, you’ll just have to read and find out!
KATE AND THE LAST OF US
Survival is a key factor within any action focused game. Within action focused games, you are always expected to survive and not die, otherwise you’d have to start over. In the world of these games, the characters are not always subjected to second chances within the narrative. Surviving means far more than just making it past a certain level, it is that character’s life that is on the line. In The Last of Us, survival is all the characters know. DEVOLA AND RIBBIT KING
Do you think you know the truth? Do you think everything is what it seems?
Then think again.
There’s a story to be found in everything, and I don’t mean the kind you find on the surface. No, I mean the real story — the dark narrative lying deep within the core of our beloved video games. Want to know the truth? Then head over to my post on Ribbit King and see it for yourself. But know this: the truth will change you.
