Hot or Not(able)

World leaders tend to always know what to say, and people really seem to fall for it. Due to recent events in politics, I decided to test out some of the best (by Brainyquotes.com’s standards) quotes made by politicians throughout the ages; including Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. I also couldn’t help myself, and decided to use a few of Donald Trump’s famous quotes.

Starting off with my profile; I needed to make my bio. To make sure I didn’t scare the men away instantly, I needed to put a quote that some people might recognize while being, you know, hashtag relatable. I decided on “Associate yourself with men of good quality, if you esteem your own reputation; for ‘tis better to be alone than in bad company.” This quote is by George Washington, but many of the quality men on “Hot or Not” didn’t seem to notice, I even added a smiley face at the end of the quote for good measure. I changed my name to “Justine Falseau” (a salute to our Prime Minister), and made the age range of my potential suitors from 19-35.

Next, time came for finding some unsuspecting gents - I “hearted” people with a fury, almost breaking my finger in the process. I could show an endless supply of photos with men not finding any amusement in my opening lines, but the one-sided conversations were much more interesting. I quickly discovered that the men who continued their conversations with me, could easily be broken down into three categories:

The “Oh, Me Too! ”

After this point in the conversation, his comments got a little too intense for my wholesome experiment.

The “Okay, but Seriously Stop”

Quick tip: All the blanks can be replaced by fish(ing). Also, apparently he didnt care about my hair at all, because that was the end of the conversation. How sad.

The "Nevermind That"

His grammar hurts my heart.

To say the least, I don’t think I will have any everlasting love after this little experiment but it was pretty amusing. The reactions didn’t disappoint, but they did surprise me. I had no idea that anyone would actually recognize some of the quotes I was using, or take them seriously. Alas, using these lines on strangers is one thing, but trying to quote some to my intense Dutch relatives is a whole other situation…
