Mostly I Hate the Way I Don’t Hate You at All
/Fall is a beautiful time of year. The colours are beautiful, the air is crisp and almost everywhere you go smells like apple or pumpkin. But as we welcome this beautiful season we also say goodbye to warm weather and welcome the cold.
Now I don’t know about you but once the weather gets colder, a movie night with a cup of tea becomes a lot more desirable than outdoor activities. So come date night, I had the perfect excuse to convince my boyfriend to watch the next girly movie on my list.
This week I got him to watch 10 Things I Hate About You, starring Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleynik and the late Heath Ledger. 10 Things I Hate About You is about a pretty and popular high schooler, Bianca Stratford (Oleynik), whose father won’t let her go on a date until her older sister Kat (Stiles) does. So Bianca enlists the help of fellow student Cameron James (Gordon-Levitt) to get her sister asked out by the high school bad boy, Patrick Verona (Ledger).
I think I may have underestimated my boyfriend. He has a wider-ranged taste in movies than I gave him credit for. When I started this blog I thought I would have to chain him to the sofa and feed him handfuls of cookies to get him to watch these movies, but that isn’t turning out to be the case. This week he even seemed, dare I say, excited to watch the movie. All these years I never suggested any of my movies because with his film background I automatically assumed he would think they were lame, but he is proving me wrong. 10 Things I Hate About You was an even bigger hit than Bridget Jones’s Diary.
What did he like most about it?
“It’s got a cute story, it’s super cheerful and the performances are really great.”
What he thought made it a good movie for guys?
“I actually wouldn’t consider it just a chick flick, you get a lot of the male characters' points of view. It’s also just a nice feel-good movie for both genders.”
He gave 10 Things I Hate About You an 8.5 rating out of 10, making movie number two another success. But I’m still aiming for that perfect 10 out of 10, I’m going to have to bring out the big guns if I’m going to get it!
