You'll Find That Love Actually Is All Around

It’s the first week of November which means that in less than 0.5 seconds, it’s out with all things Halloween and in with everything Christmas. For Christmas-crazy and holiday-obsessed people like me, this is an exciting time because it means we can decorate our houses, blast Christmas music and start holiday traditions without anyone judging us for starting early.

I’ve already gotten a head start on my traditions by putting up my mini tree in my bedroom and shopping for presents, but now it’s time to start one of my favourite Christmas traditions  watching every single Christmas movie in the house before Christmas eve. We have over 30, so it’s necessary to start early. And what better way to kick off the tradition by watching a Christmas romcom with my boyfriend for this blog?

This week's Her Movies for Him movie choice was the Christmas classic, Love Actually. This British Christmas romantic comedy is about eight intertwined couples in London, England trying to deal with their love lives in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The movie features an all-star cast including Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson and the late Alan Rickman.

I am absolutely in love with this movie. Not only is it one of my favourite Christmas movies, it is one of my favourite movies in general, so I was ecstatic to watch this with my boyfriend and see what he thought about it.

I was insanely pleased to see how much he liked it. I am not joking or exaggerating when I say he had a smile plastered on his face the entire time. But with a great cast, good humour, and several adorable storylines, there was no way he couldn’t love it too. The day after we watched it, I even got a message from him saying, “I actually loved Love Actually.” Clearly I made a good choice!

What did he like most about it?

“The movie has great humour that’s not over the top. It’s a nice sentimental movie with great intersecting storylines that actually make sense and were believable.”

What he thought made it a good movie for guys?

“The movie was very well thought out, and cleverer than most romantic comedies. It’s realistic and relatable.”

He gave Love Actually a nine out of 10, making this the most successful movie of all the movies I’ve gotten him to watch! I’m telling you, Christmas makes everything 100 times better. And if his rating and the trailer aren’t enough to convince you to watch this amazing movie, I guarantee you this clip of Hugh Grant, the Prime Minister, dancing through his house will.
