Flesh Hallway in B Building

b building hallway with a dark hallway in the corner

Running through B building, late to class, I noticed a corridor that seemingly went in the direction of my class. Thinking how lucky I am, I found myself smiling as I walked along. After walking for a few minutes, I realized I wasn’t really going anywhere, and a surge of panic hit my stomach like a rock dropped in a pit.

I noticed the doors on both sides. They looked like every other door in the college, but when I tried to open them, they wouldn’t budge a centimeter. It was almost like they were just decorations or part of the wall. Some of the doors had windows, and I peered into the void behind the glass—only my reflection from the fluorescent lights was visible. Even cupping my hands to cover the light wasn’t working; only inky black looked back at me.

I pulled out my cell phone, checking for service, and realized I had zero bars. No connection to the internet, and not a single app would open, just the main home screen with the time.

I was really starting to feel worried now. I had been attending Algonquin College for only a few weeks, and getting lost was a common occurrence for me. Every other time I had been able to find someone and ask for help, so I decided to backtrack and head back the way I came.

Walking for what felt like a few hours, I had tears running down my face, ruining my makeup and making me feel even worse. I snuffled back snot, and wiped my nose on my sleeve, feeling like a helpless child lost in a department or grocery store.

The doors were unchanging, every one of them being given a firm yank and sob. Fluorescent lights buzzed above, making the silence feel tangible. It was so quiet between the buzz and my crying that I was almost scared to stop. It felt like I was in the maze of a beast, and it was laughing at my panic, waiting around a corner to devour me.

disgusting red, yellow, and white flesh fills the hallway

Becoming a frenzied mess, I started running down the hallway, and passed a door with a window with the light turned on. I skidded to a stop, and turned around, to see something mushy and visceral filling the hallway, like foam filling up a container. As I turned, my hand grasped the door handle, and I pushed forward, tumbling into the room.

I lay on the ground, and scuttled forward, kicking the door so hard it slammed shut – just as the mush passed by and pressed up against the window.

I leaned back, realizing I was lying on my backpack, I rolled over and kneeled. I felt my heart pounding against my chest, and I put my face in my hands to catch my breath. As I felt the numbness in my brain recede, I felt the ability to think again. I composed myself, pulled my hands away from my face, and looked around me.

It was a regular classroom, with chairs and desks, and a whiteboard – it was like every other classroom in Algonquin. Posters and notices lined the walls, with the current date on them. I slowly approached the desk at the front of the class, where a professor would usually sit.

I circled to where the drawers were, and pulled on each of them, finding them all locked except the last drawer on the right. It popped open due to the force I used, and inside was a single key. It shimmered in the fluorescent lights, and I picked it up, feeling the cold metal and a strange prickly sensation erupted across my body.

I looked around the room, only seeing the door I entered from.

The key in my hand felt warm, as if it were alive and telling me to go to the door and unlock it.

Panic spread through my body, remembering the fleshy horror in the corridor. I looked to the window, where I had seen the organ looking thing was no longer there, and it was just a hallway with lights on.

Cautiously walking towards the door, trembling, the key shakily pulled me closer to the petrifying passageway.

A floating hand reaches out from a black shadow, holding a key with jagged teeth on a keyring

I barely even noticed the key slide into the keyhole, realization hitting me as the door creaked open. I peered into the hallway, looking left and right to see if it was safe.

I almost screamed when a person walked by, turning to see my pale face and acting startled by my appearance.

I realized from the doorway; I could see the elevator I passed before turning into this cursed space. I bolted to the foyer of the elevator, and saw I was back in B-Building.

I felt hot tears stream down my cheeks, and I turned around one last time, to see an organ-like appendage disappear around the corner into the hallway.
